Meet Rev. Evan “Charlie” Evans – Presbytery Stated Clerk
Following a national search, Rev. Evan “Charlie” Evans was nominated for election on February 4, 2023, to serve as the Stated Clerk of the Presbytery of St. Augustine. Charlie previously served as Stated Clerk of the Presbytery of Western Kentucky for 10 years and is the current Stated Clerk of the Synod of Living Waters. He is on the roll of Honorably Retired ministers in Mid-Kentucky Presbytery.
Charlie has served churches in the Kentucky cities of Hopkinsville, Owensboro, Franklin, Madisonville and Glasgow. After a decade-long career as an attorney in Bowling Green, Charlie left the law practice to become a full-time minister. He is a graduate of Western Kentucky University, the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law and of Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. He has also completed training for transitional ministry and for conflict resolution.
Charlie and his wife Lisa have residences in both Bowling Green, Kentucky, and in St. Augustine. Charlie and Lisa have three children: Garrett, who is in his first year at the University of St. Augustine; Parker, a sophomore music major at Western Kentucky University and Meredith, a high school freshman. Charlie is a loyal fan of Western Kentucky University athletics and of the Cleveland Browns. He has also quickly developed a partiality for Vilano Beach and for Cortesse’s Mediterranean Bistro in St. Augustine.
Charlie looks forward to getting to know our presbytery and its members and was in attendance at the Winter Stated Meeting. During this visit and afterwards, he will be working with Sandra Hedrick to ensure a smooth transition of all of the duties and responsibilities of the Stated Clerk to the benefit of the whole presbytery community.
