Meet Jerie Lukefahr, 2022 Presbytery Moderator
Jerie Lukefahr is a member of First Presbyterian Church in Fernandina Beach, a native Texan, and a child of God. Not necessarily in that order! She has served on several presbytery commissions and teams since moving to Florida in 2014, including the Administrative Commissions for Northside and St. Johns churches, the Examinations Commission, and the Training Team. She currently serves on First Presbyterian’s Pastor Nominating Committee.
Jerie earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas-Austin, was ordained as a ruling elder in 2005, finished her commissioned ruling elder training in 2013 in the Presbytery of Giddings-Lovejoy, and was certified to serve by this presbytery in 2014, pending a call to a commission. She is seeking a Master of Arts in Christian Leadership through the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary.
Jerie was baptized at age seven in her hometown, Austin, Texas. Moving to Kansas City in her 30’s, Jerie joined Village Church (PCUSA) but didn’t truly “become” Presbyterian until she helped teach confirmation classes for six years at St. Mark Presbyterian Church in Ballwin, MO.
Jerie met her husband, Steve, then a pilot for TWA, at his toy train store in St. Louis, where he worked in between flights. She sold him BRIO wooden toy trains; he talked her into going to dinner (finally!). They are both still kids at heart. Steve’s adult son, Mark, and their two teenage granddaughters are back in St. Louis. When Steve and Jerie aren’t fulfilling staff duties for their rescue kitty, KK, they enjoy the benefits of small-town life on a beautiful island, grateful to God for the gift of each day.
The Presbytery of St Augustine gives thanks for Jerie’s gifts and willingness to serve as Moderator.
