Susan Takis To Lead Area 4
We are excited to announce that Rev. Susan Takis will be the Area Relationship Coordinator for Area 4. Susan brings joy and enthusiasm as well as the gift of already knowing a great deal about people in the area.
Read more about Susan in her bio below.
I am a lifelong Presbyterian. I heard my call to ministry after a long and fruitful career in professional theatre as a lighting designer, mainly designing opera, musical theatre and theme park shows throughout the country. Then God called me to ministry, and after attending Columbia Theological Seminary, I was ordained as Minister of the Word and Sacrament in 2004. In the Presbytery of St. Augustine (POSA), I have served South Jacksonville PC (associate pastor), Orange Park PC (interim pastor), Middleburg PC (stated supply pastor) and currently First, Green Cove Springs (pastor). I have also served in the Central Florida Presbytery at First, Wildwood (pastor). My journey with the POSA began, in seminary, when I served as a pastoral intern at Geneva PC, so I have a long connection and deep love for this presbytery.
Over the course of my ministry, I have served on about every presbytery committee there is and have served at the denominational level as a GA Commissioner (2012) and served for eight years on the PCC (the GA entity which writes and administers ordination exams.) I have training in family systems theory and am a Healthy Congregations facilitator, which I now hope to utilize more fully in my new role as an Area Relationship Coordinator.
For fun, I love going to theatre, opera, baseball games, the beach, the mountains and exploring small towns. I love to read and I love to sing. I sing with the Heritage Singers of Jacksonville, as do many of our ministers and lay leaders in the presbytery. Come hear us!
I am excited and grateful for this new opportunity to serve our presbytery as an ARC.
Soli Deo Gloria!
